Community Sponsorship
Through the support of all our staff we regularly offer sponsorship and donations to the Cancer Council of Tasmania, the ABC Giving Tree, Make-A-Wish Foundation and several other local charities.
Make-A-Wish Foundation
Our Mission is to grant the Wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy....In 1985, two Australians heard a speech that changed their lives. Since that time, Make-A-Wish Australia has granted over 5700 Wishes to Australian children with life-threatening medical conditions.
The ABC Giving Tree
The ABC Giving Tree has become an institution across Tasmania, an authentic community event that captures community spirit at a special time of the year. The ABC Giving Tree seed was planted by Ric Paterson in Hobart, and from it grew a large decorated tree in the reception area of the ABC Building: a collection point for people to leave gifts for families and children in need at Christmas time.
The Cancer Council of Tasmania
Cancer Council Tasmania is a community organisation that works to minimise the impact of cancer on all Tasmanians. Our support services are delivered through the four local Cancer Support Centres located at Hobart, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie. Anyone calling into their local Cancer Support Centre can talk to a support volunteer trained to listen, to provide emotional support, offer advice and refer people to other Cancer Council programs.
